Who submits my claim to the insurance company?
As a courtesy to you, Patient Financial Services will submit your bills to your insurance carrier, provided you have given us the name and policy number of your insurance carrier. This includes Medicare, Medical Assistance (Medicaid, BadgerCare, etc.), and commercial insurance.
What if the insurance company doesn't pay my bill?
All charges not paid by your insurance must be paid in full within 30 days after receipt of statement. At the time of discharge, you will be asked to pay an insurance deductible, co-insurance and private room costs. We allow 60 days from the date of billing for your insurance company to make payment. We may ask you to contact your insurance company in order to avoid any delays. If your account remains unpaid after 60 days, we will request payment from you.
Why did I receive more than one bill?
Hospital services are billed separately from professional physician charges. You may receive separate bills from an anesthesiologist, radiologist, pathologist, etc. If you have questions regarding a bill from a provider other than St. Joseph's Hospital we ask that you contact that provider.
How can I pay my bill?
St. Joseph's Hospital has several financial options to assist patients in meeting their obligations.
You can pay with cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover. You can also pay online. Monthly payment plans are also available. Contact Patient Financial Services to discuss your options at (715) 717-7444.
Do I qualify for any discounts if I don't have insurance?
If you don't have health insurance St. Joseph's Hospital will apply uniformly a discount to all uninsured patient's accounts prior to billing. Some patients may apply for an additional discount based on their family size and income.
Is there a discount for paying my balance in full?
For balances paid in full within 30 days of the statement date, you will receive a 10% prompt payment discount.
If I am unable to pay my bill what should I do?
Contact Patient Financial Services at (715) 717-7444. Our counselors can explain our financial assistance programs or help you in completing necessary documents to quality for government sponsored programs or our Hospital's Charity Care program.
What is charity care?
Charity Care is a hospital-based financial assistance program available to patients who are not able to pay their full obligation. Charity Care is based on household size and income. You will be asked to provide documentation to support your application, such as tax returns, pay stubs and bank statements in order to be considered. I've never been to the hospital, why did I receive a bill?
St. Joseph's Hospital provides billing services for LE Phillips-Libertas drug and alcohol programs and for Libertas drug and alcohol programs in Green Bay and surrounding areas. If you received treatment at one of these facilities, you will get a bill from our hospital.

When can I expect to receive my statement?
You will receive a Guarantor Statement once every thirty days.

Are St. Joseph's Hospital and Marshfield Clinic charges on the same statement?
No, even though we are physically connected we are two different organizations. Each organization will send its own statement that reflects its separate charges. Should you have questions regarding your Marshfield Clinic statement please contact them.
How do I know if the insurance company will cover my charges?
If your insurance is through your employer, we suggest you contact them for benefits. You can also contact the insurance company, the phone number is usually located on the back of the card.
Why is an outside service required to read my X-ray?
Wisconsin state law requires that a radiologist read all xray films. St. Joseph's Hospital uses the service of Medical X-ray Consultants.
Are there other St. Joseph's in Wisconsin?
Yes, but each hospital has its own affiliation. We are sponsored by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.
