SJH expanding wound care services; plans to renovate second floor

Wound Care Services are expanding and evolving at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and plans are under way to renovate the hospital’s second floor. The end result will be the creation of the “St. Joseph’s Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine,” complete with two hyperbaric chambers.

Funding for the effort – being developed in conjunction with Diversified Clinical Services and supported by Infinity HealthCare physicians – has been made possible with support from the Friends of St. Joseph’s Hospital, who raised more than $500,000 in a recent fundraising campaign. The Friends committed the first $100,000 from existing funds, with the remaining $400,000 coming from area foundations and individual contributors.

Bobbi Giles, Director of Development for St. Joseph’s Hospital, praised the Friends of St. Joseph’s Hospital for contributing the “seed money” to kick off the quiet but well-focused fundraising campaign and commended the group for securing the additional funding in such a short amount of time. All was raised in a 3½-month period, she said.

“We thank the Friends of St. Joseph’s for their continued support of the hospital and the patients we serve,” Giles said. “Their efforts demonstrate three things: the generosity of this community, the public’s support of our community hospital; and the incredible need for a clinic like this.”

Construction on the new wound treatment area is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
