St. Joseph's Hospital

Emergency
Renovation

The new Emergency Service Area will more than double the current 5,000 square feet to help with a growing population and increase demand for emergency services in the area.

In August 2009, St. Joseph's Hospital broke ground on a $6.7 million Emergency Department expansion and renovation project designed to better serve patients in Chippewa County and surrounding communities.

St. Joseph's Hospital treats an estimated 16,000 patients annually and is Chippewa County's only around-the-clock emergency service available. With the increased demand for emergency services, it was time for St. Joseph's Hospital to build an improved and expanded Emergency Service Area - one that will meet the health care needs of the Chippewa Valley for decades to come.

The expansion will more than double the current area and include 13 treatment rooms. More rooms and more beds will ensure continued efficiency, greater effectiveness, patient comfort, and quality emergency care.

During the transition, patients can be assured that St. Joseph's Hospital will continue to have 24/7 emergency services and physicians on-site at all times.

NOTE: With Infinity HealthCare serving St. Joseph's Hospital, one change patients will notice is that they will now receive two bills when they come to the Emergency Department - one from St. Joseph's and one from Infinity. Previously, the physician fees were part of the hospital bill.
