Children's work is their play. Through play, infants through school age children discover the world around them. They learn though touch, movement, smell, vision, hearing and taste. How they put this knowledge together is important in their skill development, self concept, and self esteem.

Speech, Physical, and Occupational Therapy Services (SPOTS) is the pediatric therapy program within HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Rehabilitation Services.
SPOTS therapists work with children with special needs and their families, as well as with others who
help to shape their lives. As therapists who specialize in pediatric care, we build relationships with each child and their family. In doing so, we strive to weave what
we believe to be best practice into the fabric of each child's daily life. We help families understand why their child may have challenging behavior, low self-esteem, or difficulty with developmental skills. Using a secure and successful environment, we work with families to enhance their child's development and establish successful daily routines.
A team approach is proven to be the most effective way to help children and families. We encourage parents to be partners in the therapy planning process to build on the child's strengths and work with community resources to provide additional support and assistance.

The Hanen Program is a family-focused program for parents of young children who have language delays. It is based on years of research and addresses the need for early language intervention and the importance of parents' involvement in their children's intervention. It is a 10 week program run by a Hanen certified speech-language pathologist for parents of children who are:
- Between the ages of birth and four years old
- Late talkers and/or at risk for having language delays
- Interested in learning how to best facilitate their child's language
The program includes:
- An orientation session
- Five small group sessions to teach parents the skills to improve their child's language delay
- Four individual consultation visits with a speech therapist that utilize video feedback to provide a personalized approach to each family
